Accelerating Our Partnership Goals and Ambitions

Midlands Engine Chairman Sir John Peace has met with various partners over the last month, representing the Midlands Engine partnership and driving forward progress on our goals and ambitions.

These meetings include:

  • Hosting a webinar for Midlands Connect on Very Light Rail – an innovative and environmentally friendly transport system which is being built in Coventry.
  • Convening a meeting of Leaders from Lincolnshire County Council, North Lincolnshire Council, North East Lincolnshire Council and Rutland County Council, as well as the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, to discuss ever-closer working across the region.
  • Update meetings with partners across the region relating to the Midlands Engine Development Corporation, including private and public sector partners.
  • Introductory meetings with Chris Naylor, new Interim Chief Executive at Birmingham City Council, and Margot James, recently appointed Executive Chair of the Warwick Manufacturing Group.

The Chairman will continue to represent the Midlands Engine in virtual meetings while the effect of Covid-19 continues. In July he chaired the Midlands Engine Executive Board, which sets the direction and strategy of the partnership, along with a wide range of other engagements raising the profile of the region and the partnership.
