The One Midlands event held today (3 March) by Civil Service Local has provided Midlands Engine the perfect opportunity to highlight our varied work to an audience of Government partners from across the region.

Executive Director of the Midlands Engine, Rachael Greenwood, presented on the role and work of our pan-regional partnership across themes as diverse as Digital, Green Growth and Internationalisation.

With delegates welcomed to the event by Melinda Johnson, the interim UK Government Head of Place for the East Midlands, the meeting also featured interactive sessions and speakers from a variety of Civil Service departments including Communities, Places for Growth and Reform and Modernisation.

The virtual event provided a powerful forum to highlight the work of the Midlands Engine and connections across all government departments.

It included discussions on future plans, including more from departments on Places for Growth, Beyond Whitehall and Levelling up agendas.

Events such as One Midlands are part of an ambitious new initiative jointly sponsored by the Cabinet Office, BEIS and MHCLG.
