New Observatory Quarterly Economic Briefings to begin in January

The inaugural Midlands Engine Quarterly Economic Briefing will be delivered virtually by the Midlands Engine Observatory on 20 January from 11:15am.

Designed to provide accurate and timely information on a range of topics, this first Briefing will include:

  • An introduction to the Midlands Engine, Sir John Peace, Chairman, Midlands Engine
  • National economic outlook, Glynn Jones, Bank of England
  • A look back at the last quarter of 2020 and ahead to the first quarter of 2021, Professor Delma Dwight, Director of the Midlands Engine Observatory and Black Country Consortium Economic Intelligence Unit
  • Findings of the Midlands Manufacturing commission, Chris White, Director of Industrial Policy and Insight Centre, Executive Manufacturing Technology Centre

The event is open to anyone wanting to learn more about the health of the Midlands economy, particularly those working in economic and business development within local authorities, local enterprise partnerships, universities and Government, along with political leaders and advisors, and regional businesses.
