Students in the region can enjoy increased flexibility and access to lifelong learning thanks to the Midlands Credit Compass scheme, the first of its kind, launched by Midlands Enterprise Universities (MEU) at the end of 2019.

The consortium – Birmingham City, Derby, Coventry, Lincoln, Nottingham Trent and Wolverhampton – devised this unique framework for students who leave university, or want to change their institution part way through their studies. By verifying credits already achieved, they allow students to resume their studies without having to repeat accreditations.

The scheme can work towards closing the productivity gap in the Midlands, delivering skilled workers and supporting student access, choice and flexibility.
