Sir John Peace

“Last week’s Autumn Statement provides a solemn reminder of the reality of the cost-of-living crisis. Communities all over the Midlands are already battling with soaring energy bills, unaffordable rising costs to the weekly shop and the most difficult of decisions on how to prioritise strained household budgets.

“It is therefore more important than ever that the Midlands Engine partnership continues to make the case for the Midlands – the UK’s largest economy outside of London and a region home to 11 million people. Together, we will ensure that our voice is heard and act as a positive agent for economic, social and environmental change, to benefit every single part of our region.

“It is investment, in our people and our places, which will unlock the vast potential of our region, and which will allow our many strengths to contribute to the much-needed growth potential of the UK and Midlands economy.”
