The first regional vision outlining a clear path towards net zero is unveiled today as we launch the consultation phase of our Ten Point Plan for Green Growth in the Midlands Engine.

The Midlands Engine is the first pan regional partnership in the UK to propose clear and urgent action to deliver on the Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, in the form of our own Ten Point Plan for Green Growth in the Midlands Engine.

The Midlands is already a leading location for Green Growth, with exceptional work in low carbon being undertaken across our vast partnership landscape.

Our Ten Point Plan builds on this work and details the unparalleled opportunities presented by low carbon. It is a unified pan regional vision and action plan featuring input from over 200 partner organisations and many more voices: from key business leaders, researchers and thought leaders, to local government champions and conservation and wildlife specialists who have all informed our Midlands Engine Green Growth Conversation over the last year.

Chairman of the Midlands Engine Sir John Peace said:

As the world goes green, the Midlands has a new opportunity to forge the future, capitalising on our geography, strategic low carbon assets, industries and global reputation for leadership in innovation.

I am delighted to invite you to take part in our consultation – a chance for you to add your voice, before we launch a finalised Ten Point Plan for Green Growth in the Midlands Engine in July.

The Midlands is already leading the national Green Growth agenda and now is the time to act, accelerate and achieve even more, together.

All Midlands Engine partners and regional stakeholders are now being given the opportunity to provide further input as part of our Ten Point Plan consultation.

By getting involved and supporting the consultation and delivery of the Ten Point Plan, partners will be helping to ensure that our region can act now on the wealth of opportunities presented by low carbon.

Only by acting together can we effectively accelerate our path to net zero if we are to truly build back stronger, better and greener.
