UK astronaut Tim Peake officially opened Leicester’s pioneering space research, innovation and teaching cluster at a special ceremony on Monday.

Designed to showcase the ambition, creativity, and passion of young people in the Midlands to shape a greener, cleaner, and more prosperous future, the Midlands Engine Young People’s Green Growth Assembly, took place on Friday 11 March 2022 in Nottingham and was attended by over 100 business and public sector leaders, and a group of Green Growth Champions aged 15-19. 

The Midlands Engine Young People’s Green Growth Assembly will be taking place tomorrow (11 March) 2022 in Nottingham-  unleashing the ambition, innovation and passion of the younger generation in the Midlands to create a greener society where our future generations can prosper.

Researchers from Midlands Engine Partner the University of Derby are leading a major new international effort to ensure the long-term future of the world’s lagoons and the communities that depend on them. 

Today [8 March], Midlands Engine Observatory releases a new report in conjunction with the University of Wolverhampton: Women in Business Leadership in the Midlands. The report details barriers to success for female business leaders, as well as providing recommendations to redress existing disparities. 

A raft of new jobs will be created throughout the Midlands as a result of the Electric Vehicle (EV) boom in the Midlands. Analysis by WSP for Midlands Connect shows that nearly 30,000 jobs could be created due to the projected boom in EV use.
