A major initiative has been launched to showcase the Harborough District as a key location for businesses to invest, expand and prosper.

‘Invest in Harborough District’ was launched by Harborough District Council on Friday 1 March 2019 at a unique event at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, with guest speakers, as well as businesses from the District, property agents, financial advisors, architects and construction companies from London, Nottingham, Birmingham and other key locations.

Harborough District Council launched its ‘Invest in Harborough District’ website and a specially-commissioned promotional video to showcase the District, raise its profile and encourage businesses to invest or relocate to the District.

It aims to build positive relationships with influential people and organisations in the business community to help attract investment to maintain a strong and vibrant economy. It also looks to connect businesses with the excellent support, training and funding opportunities currently available.

Key incentives for business investment in the Harborough District include:

  • Good transport links and connections by road, rail and air to key cities and ports
  • Central location in the UK
  • Competitive commercial property and housing costs
  • Focus of UK logistics market
  • Access to highly educated and skilled workforce
  • Consistently voted one of best places to live, visit and work
  • Superfast broadband
  • Vibrant Town Centres
  • Excellent schools
  • Tourism, culture and heritage

Cllr Neil Bannister, Leader of Harborough District Council, said:

Our district offers huge benefits for businesses looking to grow and prosper. This initiative will ensure the district is at the forefront when businesses are considering the best locations to do business.  As well as increasing awareness of why businesses should invest here we also want to highlight why the district is such an enjoyable place in which to live.

At the launch event Mark Oakley, Director of Inward Investment and Place Marketing at Leicester City Council, gave a presentation on the work he is currently involved in surrounding Inward Investment. Also, Nicola Mercer and Carly Rose from Fidelity Group Communications shared news of the ‘buddy solution’, currently being installed at The Symington Building in Market Harborough, which monitors energy and helps businesses reduce their environmental impact.
