Rolls-Royce has announced a £150m investment in new and existing civil aerospace facilities in the UK to support the planned doubling of engine production. The investment will mean that more than 7,000 jobs in the East Midlands will be secured.

Commenting on the announcement Sir John Peace, Chair of the Midlands Engine said:

“I very much welcome the excellent news of the £150m investment by Rolls-Royce in new and existing civil aerospace facilities in Derby and Hucknall. The investment will safeguard and create high value jobs in the Midlands and is a vote of confidence in the region’s ability to lead the national challenge of increasing productivity and driving economic growth.

The Midlands is home to a good number of globally successful advanced technology businesses that are supported by strong supply chains and an innovation and research rich industrial and academic culture. Businesses that are at the heart of our plans for the Midlands to become known nationally and internationally as the best place in Britain to live, work, study and invest.”
