This week the Prime Minster has launched his ten point plan for a Green Industrial Revolution.

Covering clean energy, transport, nature and innovative technologies, the blueprint sets direction for the UK to step up action towards the net zero target.

The plan, which is part of the UK government’s mission to level up across the country, will mobilise £12 billion of government investment to create and support up to 250,000 green jobs in the UK.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s plan, Sir John Peace, Chairman of the Midlands Engine said:

This bold plan for a Green Industrial Revolution will help reduce emissions, drive innovation, unlock finance and is an important step on our journey towards Net Zero.

I am particularly pleased to see the Midlands put at the centre of these plans given the Midlands Engine’s focus and our regions demonstrable capabilities through which we will drive Green Growth and recovery.

Welcoming the plan as part of the levelling up agenda, Rachael Greenwood, Director of the Midlands Engine added:

Our active Midlands Engine energy conversation has already shown just how much further potential there is for green growth across the Midlands – and put a spotlight on the phenomenal capabilities within our region.

Our region’s trajectory aligns closely with the ten point plan the Prime Minister has announced today and I am confident the Midlands Engine partnership will help take this ambition and turn it into a reality.
